Description

Near the end of the last Millenium, a feeling of unease started to grow within the Oslo underground scene. Thrash metal was back…and it was time to serve punishment where punishment was due. Nocturnal Breed was formed in 1996 by singer/bassist S. A. Destroyer (Gehenna/Satyricon) and guitarist Ed Damnator aka Silenoz (Dimmu Borgir). Within six months, demo recordings Raping The Angels and Black Cult were hatched, from which several tracks made it on to different compilations. A collaboration with Dutch label Hammerheart Records would result in Nocturnal Breeds first official release, Aggressor in October 1997. Aggressor was recorded at Gordon Studios in Oslo and featured session-members Astennu (lead guitars) and Rick Hellraizer (drums). The music on Aggressor has Thrash written all over it, right down to the catchy as hell guitar riffs, while the vocals are pure black metal. This is the type of album that you put on, grab a case of your favorite malt liquor, slip on the denim jacket and bullet belt, and just Thrash your damn head to pieces. I must make special mention of the inclusion of keyboards on this album. Let me just say this, if you are not totally drawn into the opening track, Rape The Angels, by the keyboards, and if it isn't rolling around your head for days, you just aren't paying attention. If you're one that lives and breathes on bands from the heyday of the German Thrash scene, then I suggest you obtain a copy of Aggressor as soon as possible. And it wouldn't hurt to get yourself a keg and a neckbrace either. 2005 remastered with different cover artwork and 2 bonus tracks Track listing: 1. Rape The Angels 2. Frantic Aggressor 3. Maggot Master 4. Nocturnal Breed 5. Evil Dead (Death cover) 6. Metal Storm Rebels 7. Dead Dominions 8. Alcoholic Rites 9. Revelation 666 10. Blaster 11. Locomotive Death 12. Triumph of The Blasphemer (fiend edit) 13. Screaming For A Leather Bitch (97)
