Original 1986 Mexican pressing
Mexican hardrock act La Cruz was founded in Tijuana in the early 80s as a cover band were they were performing covers of bands like: Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin, Wishbone Ash, Humble Pie etc. After a while the band started to compose their own material influenced by the material they had played in the early stages of their career. Their debut album, Rock A La Medianoche (Rock At Midnight), was released in 1986. The album features some good rock tracks, a track that really tries to be commercial and a ballad that were aimed for radio play but gained no attention. Overall a mixed album that tried to hard to please everyone, quite common back then, when they label were hoping for a hit single and at the same time lost the energy the band showed when they played live. Interesting for historical purpose while still offering a few good tracks.
