Rose Tattoo from Sydney was formed in 1976 and started to playing around the dusty bar scenes in 1977. In some of the suburbs and places they played it was only the toughest of cookies that made it out unscratched when the evening was over. This living influenced the band and nobody could be more convincing than Angry Anderson when he sang “I’m a rock ‘n’ roll outlaw” on their debut album a year later. He sure wasnt lying. With band members full of tattoos, anger and street-level blues – not to mention the dirty slide guitar work of former Buffalo man Pete Wells – Rose Tattoo were the ultimate Aussie brawlers. This amazing recording captures the band at Commodore Hotel in Sandringham, Victoria on the 6th of July 1978, a few months before the arrival of their debut album. The band only had one single out and both tracks from that debut single, Bad Boy For Love and Snow Queen, are performed live here together with several cover tunes. We also get an early version of their most famous song, Nice Boys. As a bonus we also get 4 live tracks from Bondi Lifesaver in Sydney on the 31st of August 1980, at a time when bassplayer Geordy Leech had been replaced by Ian Rilen. Among those tracks we get 3 cover tunes from Australian punk band X. Fans of angry and obnoxious bar rock just need to have this one.
