Description
The ultimate Kings of heavy are Led Zeppelin, and no one can deny the powerful influence they have had on rock bands throughout the world since the early 1970s. Robert Plant, John Bonham, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones made history in being renamed Led Zeppelin by The Who’s John Entwistle. These legends of rock are unique. The album A Legend In Their Own Lifetime is not a mustic release but an exclusive English radio interview with Robert Plant made by English radio reporter Crazy Chris Tetley made in the spring of 1988. It gives a wonderful insight into the lives of a fabulous group of musicians. Robert Plant recalls one of John Bonham’s tips, given to him in the days before PAs were any good: Don’t worry about the music, leave that to us. Just go out there and look good, ‘cos you’re not much good anyway. Robert says two weeks after their (Jimmy and Robert) initial meeting, he (Robert) took a beat-up old suitcase on the train from Birmingham to Pangbourne after being invited by Jimmy to come down for a visit. He said he stayed the night on the houseboat, returning to Birmingham the next day. According to an anecdote in The Lemon Tree fanzine (Dec 94) on August 3, 1968 Robert took the train in from London to ask John Bonham (performing with Tim Rose) if was interested in joining The New Yardbirds.
