Undercover was an American Christian rock band based in Fullerton, California, formed in the early 1980s by Joey “Ojo” Taylor and James “Gym” Nicholson. They were pioneers in what would later be called alternative music in the Christian world. The stayed on the scene for more than two decades and the CCM Magazine once called them “the band that grew up in public.” This single features the track Closer To You from their 1982 album God Rules. In these early stage of the bands career the band wore Mohawk hairstyles, tattoos, and torn jeans and were described as Christian punk, characterized by the bands high-energy anthems, rebellious themes, and short, three-chord songs.
The 77s was also an American rock band and this unit came from Sacramento in California. The band first used the name Scratch Band but changed their name to The Seventy Sevens/The 77s before they released their first album. The track here, A Different Kind Of Light, is taken from their first album, Ping Pong Over The Abyss (a collection of Scratch Band songs written in the late 70s and early 80s). A mix of rock, new wave and punk.
