Lobotomy was a Swedish death metal act from Stockholm formed in 1989 and split-up in 2000. The band released several demos in the early 90s. Here you have the bands debut demo, When Death Draws Near, that was released in 1990. This demo shows that Swedish death metal was bigger than the specific style perfected by the likes of Entombed, Carnage, and Dismember. Lobotomy had this tight rhythmic consistency and that special Swedish death metal guitar tone. This early demo has that youthful energy and primitive raw power that made Swedish death metal so special around this time. Swedish death metal connoisseurs should take notice
