Description

German pressed music cassette. White cassette with black text and 2 bonus tracks. Limited 250 copies

From Cleveland, Ohio, Destructor released their debut album Maximum Destruction in 1985. It is a critical piece of U.S. thrash history. Totally off the map indie insanity that was too intense for its time. The band had a thick, violent sound and at times hit very high speeds. Obviously the band was no stranger to the growing speed limit within the neighboring hardcore punk scene. But Destructor were not a crossover band. This was pure heavy metal riffage played with an intensity similar to Blessed Deaths legendary Kill Or Be Killed album of the same year. Just vicious and mean, this record has aged so well as over the past 10 years a whole new generation of bands seek to replicate this sound…typically without success. Sadly, Destructor were kind of derailed when their bassist was stabbed to death in 1988. However, the band continued releasing must hear and savage thrash like the classic Decibel Casualties demo from 87 and have had much success in the last 20 years, releasing several excellent albums. If anything Destructor is probably more loved in 2020 than they were in 1985. This often happens with band’s who were ahead of their time (yet simultaneously capture an era’s vibe) and knew how to write quality songs. If you are a fan of U.S. thrash metal Maximum Destruction is an absolutely essential piece of the thrash puzzle that is early U.S. thrash metal. These guys were the real deal, underground fiends who were able to perfectly capture the essence of thrash extremity circa ’85…Maximum Destruction indeed.
