Description
The Band was born in the 1997 from an idea of Frank Andiver, Italian producer and drummer of many bands (ex-Labyrinth, Shadows of Steel, Anger,Oracle Sun) and of the bassist Andrea ‘Tower’ Torricini (already with Frank in the Shadows of Steel and bassist in Vision Divine). The idea of the two musicians was to find a new road for the Italian metal, a new sound very melodic but with innovative characteristics in the arrangements and lyrics. The band was completed with Alexx Hall, a singer with a pop background, guitarist Giaime and second guitarist Vic Mazzoni from Shadows Of Steel and Projecto. The first release was the 1998 ep Somewhere In My Eyes and the end result might not be that original that Andiver and Torricini thought it would be. Wonderland performs symphonic power metal featuring both epic and speed power metal tunes not far from the members others bands. Their self titled debut album was released in 2001. This debut is melodic and symphonic like a mix of Angra and Labyrinth. Lots of keyboards but the guitars feels like the most prominent instrument. Whatever you think of power metal. Back in 2001 there were plenty of bands sounding exactly like this and there was a market for them all.
