Rare 1985 compilation tape put together and presented by Radio icon Ulf Elving. This tape was only available through Semic Jultidningsförlaget for Christmas 1985. Jultidningar/Christmas magazines are a collective term for special issues of newspapers, magazines and comic books that are sold before Christmas and are normally distributed by Christmas magazine publishers. The tradition in Sweden with Jultidningar goes as far back as the beginning of the 20th century. Julstämning is often incorrectly called the world’s oldest Christmas magazine. It was first published in 1906 and immediately became a success with almost 100,000 copies sold. A significantly older magazine was Jultomten, which was first published in 1891. What attracted and became a hallmark of the magazine were the fine art prints by famous artists. Julstämning is still alive and the anniversary issue in 2006 was published in 50,000 copies. The oldest active Christmas magazine publisher is Semic Jultidningsförlaget which is part of Bonnierförlagen. It was founded in 1906. The sale of Christmas magazines has since become a way for children and young people to earn extra money. The publishers attract with good profits (up to 33 percent of the price), and various bonus products where the electronic ones have become increasingly dominant over the years. Sorry I cant tell if this tape was for sale through the publisher only or if it was bonus product you could get if you sold enough magazines for the publisher. In either way it has become hard to find nowadays.
