Establishing itself along with Jerusalem and Charizma as a pioneering force in the Swedish Christian hard rock movement, Leviticus ultimately helped to pave the way for other Swedish acts to follow such as Veni Domine, Narnia, Laudamus and Harmony. Formed in the early eighties by Bjorn Stigsson, Hakan Andersson and Kjell Andersson, Leviticus debut was this four song EP entitled “Sta Och Titta Pa/Stand And Watch" with all songs in Swedish that was released in 1982. ‘Sta Och Titta Pa’ could be considered to be the first Christian metal album. Jerusalem had released ‘Krigsman/Warrior’ the year before and that included a lot of elements that are considered metal. Most stateside acts like Resurrection Band, Petra, Daniel Band and Barnabas turned into metal acts in 1983 and the Christian metal scene would explode in 84/85 with Stryper, Saint and Messiah Prophet albums. Leviticus would release one full length album in Swedish called ‘Jag Skall Segra’. In 1985 Leviticus made a success with their album ‘The Strongest Power’. ‘One of the best records that year’ thought the metal magazine Kerrang and wrote lots of superlatives over the band.
