Description
The Creek started out under the name Sugarcreek (a name taken from the towns sewer system) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Their first album ‘Live at the Roxy’ was released by their own label Beaver Records in '81. The result wasn’t as polished and refined as their later efforts. The band's first proper studio album, ‘Fortune’ (Beaver, '82) and second ‘Rock The Night Away’ (Ripete ’84) were strong AOR/pomp rock. Around this time Sugarcreek also had some good press in the U.K., which resulted in Music For Nations putting together and releasing a 12 song album collection of songs culled from the two studio albums and simply called it ‘Sugarcreek’ (MFN 55 – 1985). The band parted with Michael Hough and became sugar free. The reappeared with a slightly modern sound as The Creek with the same titled album. The music was still Pomp AOR with an infectious chorus. The album however sold porly for Music For Nations on both sides of the pond. The band made another slightly heavier but still melodic album on Music For Nations and then they were reunited in January 2008 for a few shows. With printed innersleeve Track listing: 1.
