Description
Scar Culture are a New York City-based quartet, whose brutal, high-velocity metal sound incorporates various forms of heavy music influences, including grindcore, death metal, and hardcore. ‘Inscribe’, the N.Y.C. quartet's debut, is patterned after classics like Slayer's ‘Reign in Blood’; the songs, most of which are barely longer than two minutes (owing to hardcore's sense of brevity), are quick surgical strikes of concentrated death metal brutality, and the whole record is paced to pummel, without letting up for so much as a second. While tracks like ‘Reform Reason’ occasionally break down to effective mid-tempo sections, the record generally passes at light speed. Billy Milano (S.O.D.) provides effectively crushing production values and brings a certain amount of definition out of the band's blinding onslaught. Look out for the excellent hidden bonus track a cover of Faith No More's ‘Surprise, You're Dead’ at the end of the disc. Track listing: 1. Intro 2. Vision 3. Keep It To Myself 4. Servant 5.
