Death Fiend was Hellhammers first demo and it was released in just 20 copies to their closest friends. Hellhammer is the band, whose influence on the overall extreme metal scene is just as notable and significant as Venom or Slayer. Their first demo is not one of those demos where we get just a glimpse of the bands sound and only get to hear some 3-4 tracks. This is a complete 9 track 30 minute treat. These tracks were recorded at the Grave Hill Bunker in Switzerland on June 10th of 1983. The recording value and production are obviously a little trashy and poor, but it has been used as an advantage and features the band in pure raw aggression; well, somewhat it gives a punk-ish feel to the whole thing, it depends on you whether you consider it good or bad. One thing I can assure you is that the energy is there, but the vocals can hardly be heard and this is an unfortunate flaw with this offering that was said to have been produced by Rol Fuchs.
