Description
2008 re-issue of Bitch debut EP with photo insert and lyrics. With reproduced autographs on the back cover S&M fanatic Betsy Weiss was previously fronting Los Angeles Ska band The Boxing Boys before discovering the delights of Heavy Metal and carving out a niche in American Metal history for herself as front woman with the notorious Bitch. The original line-up of the band featured Betsy, erstwhile Badaxe guitarist David Carruth, bassist Richard Zusman and drummer Robby Settles. This incarnation recorded the first Bitch demo, from which they contributed the semi-classic 'Live For The Whip' for the first 'Metal Massacre' compilation album issued by Metal Blade in 1982, signing a deal with the label soon afterwards. Prior to the recording of the band's 'Damnation Alley' mini-album, Zusman was replaced by former Molten Leather bassist Mark Anthony Webb. Molten Leather had been a featured act on the second 'Metal Massacre' volume released in late '82. ‘Damnation Alley’ is totally punked up, sleazy, sexually aggressive, lustful, dominant, highly energetic Metal Punk of the finest sort. Singer Betsy is in the centre of interest here, as her wild and powerful performance is a serious kick in the butt. If the first song doesn’t make you wanna jump around naked (check the vocal part from 1:50 on – incredible!), then go to “Damnation Alley” directly. You’ll never get the chorus out of your head again. The only song I don’t think should be on this EP is “He’s gone”. It’s not bad, but it just can’t keep the energy level of the other smashers. Track listing: 1. Saturdays 2. Never Come Home 3. Damnation Alley 4. Hes Gone 5. Live For The Whip
