G-Anx started out as Gravida Anker (Pregnant Ducks) in Huskvarna, Sweden as early as 1982. Back then the band were playing some old school midtempo punkrock, but the following years they were infiltrated by the young noisecore extremists from Penisknyckarna (Steve, Putte and Hoccy) and the name was cut down to G-Anx in 84. A few years later the last original member Sonnerby was replaced by Hedda. With this final setting the band rehearsed approx. 20 times until the split-up in 1992 (it's better to split up than to be infiltrated and replaced). During their 7 years in existent they performed about 20 gigs and recorded 4 vinyl EPs. That was all. The last recording they did was supposed to be an album, but some tapes were erased by mistake (?) and the band didn’t have the energy to re-record and took the tracks they had and made it into another EP. G-Anx was a cult phenomenon when it came to fast Swedish hardcore with their bashing drums, shouting vocals and raging guitars with some melodic and acoustic parts. When G-Anx disbanded in 1992 the members Hoccy and Steve formed Counterblast. Most of the EPs and the compilation albums that G-Anx appeared on are now hard to get so thanks to Sound Pollution records who released this ‘Flashbacks’ cd in 1993. ‘Flashbacks’ includes many of the EP and compilation tracks together with two previously unreleased tracks. However if you didn’t bought this album when it came out then youre in for trouble as the cd now are as hard to find as many of their vinyl releases. If you see it then check it out because G-Anx blends d-beat, crust, grind and thrash and brings it to a whole new level. If youre into noise, crust, core etc then do not miss this band.
