Original 2012 mediabook release

Demon from Staffordshire, England, came together in 1980 and they quickly secured a one-off single deal with independent Clay Records, resulting in the Liar 7 later that year. The disc sold surprisingly well and Demon was presently snapped up by French label Carrere (then also the home of Nwobhm stars Saxon) and shipped right back into the studio to record a full album. Released in July 1981, their debut, Night of the Demon, was loaded with darkly gothic heavy metal on the one hand and melodic hard rock on the other, drawing positive comparisons to Judas Priest and latter-day Rainbow. A noteworthy stylistic balancing act, the semi-conceptual album shifted enough copies to secure the band a continuing record deal. The band suffered a major setback when founding member Mal Spooner — long suffering from numerous health problems — succumbed to pneumonia and passed away in December 1984. The band would continue to release increasingly overlooked albums over the next decade before singer Dave Hill finally put the band on ice during the 90s. After compiling another best-of set in 1999, Hill decided to hire a new group of backup musicians and a revamped Demon inaugurated the new millennium with their tenth studio album, 2001’s Spaced Out Monkey. September of 2012 saw the release of the bands twelfth album, Unbroken. 7 years has passed since the last album and unfortunately Andy Dale had other commitments and couldnt continue with the band so the band had once again lost a long surviving member. The new guitarist Paul Hume was at the helm doing both engineering and mixing the album. Unbroken should be a pleasant disc for all the long time fans of the band since its feel like a step back to their early roots of traditional hard rock.
