Catalouge number: D4-70950 A cousin of one of New Jersey's finest sons, Jodi Bongiovi attempted to cash in on the rising star that was Jon Bon Jovi with an independently released album released during Bon Jovis awe inspiring 'New Jersey' trek. The album was recorded with the help of uncle Tony Bongiovi at his Power Station headquarter. The record started with a cover of Jefferson Airplane's 'Somebody To Love' (also released as a single) with two album tracks, 'Emergency' and 'Freeze This Moment', being covers of French Lick compositions. Her band for the occasion included Bystander guitarist Stan Steele guitar, bass player John D'Servio, keyboard player Mick Seeley and drummer Jimmy Callahan. The album is full of upbeat energy and well-written, hum able songs. Particularly good are ‘A Flower Can't Grow In A Shadow’ and the mention ‘Emergency’. One can sense that the tunes are trying to aim for a Pat Benetar or Lita Ford kind of vibe, but they fall well short of the mark. Jodi's voice can carry a tune alright, but she's really not hard rock material (she sounds more like Debbie Gibson after raiding her mother's liquor cabinet) one reviewer described Jodis singing voice, as similar in style to Minnie Mouse. When it comes to production you'd expect better with a big name producer like Tony Bongiovi at the helm, but the songs all manage to sound both tinny and over-produced at the same time. Of particular interest is the fact that nowhere in the thank you list does it mentions Jon Bon Jovi. Maybe she didn't want to swing from her cousin's nuts too hard, or maybe her uncle didn't let her (Tony Bongiovi and Jon Bon Jovi have sued each other several times over ownership and royalties).
