Description

In 1984 Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull released their fifteen album Under Wraps. This album was an uncharacteristic venture into the world of drum machines and synthesizers, and it was mostly Anderson and keyboardist Peter-John Vettese that cut this album together. Most of the work, including drum programming, was done by Anderson in his home studio before guitar and (scant) bass guitar were added. The group members were excited about their latest sounds, which brought a cold edginess to the usual intricate music. The British audiences didn't mind the changes, U.S. buyers pretty much hated the album. Compared to the U.S. number 19 position of 1982's The Broadsword and the Beast, Under Wraps never got past number 76. Lap Of Luxury was released as a single and the 12’ version features no less than 3 exclusive none album tracks Astronomy, Tundra and Automotive Engineering as bonus. The die hard fan can buy this because of the none album tracks but the music on it is boring synth music just like the album. The band would go on and in the future they would release a few albums that would be as boring as Under Wraps even though it was hard rock and heavy metal, however the 1983-1984 period of Jethro Tull remains one of the lowest points in their discography Track listing: 1. Lap Of Luxury 2. Astronomy 2. Automotive Engineering 4. Tundra
