Let me just say that Gamma Ray clearly put a lot of thought into this album. Each song is carefully remastered and play listed, and they all flow together nearly seamlessly. This a fantastic view of all of Gamma Rays best work over its long career, and a great purchase for any fan (new or old) of the band whos looking for a good summary of everything they’ve done. In my opinion, it might even be their best standalone album. A couple of things about the song choice. First of all, I love it. Armageddon makes for a superb opening track, and the track listing creates a diverse experience that many past albums simply haven’t been able to offer. Heaven Can Wait compliments the screaming Hellbent quite nicely; the same goes for Empathy and Valley of The Kings or Land of the Free and To The Metal. Every Gamma Ray album is represented here and blended together quite well. Some are clearly more represented than others (Insanity and Genius contributes only one track, while Land of The Free contributes four), but it goes towards making a more interesting album and I’m glad Gamma Ray made the choice to do that. The same goes for some of the redone tracks taken from Blast From the Past. I might prefer the original version of Heading For Tomorrow, but it wouldn’t have really fit in among the newer tracks, which I admit. Even a track like, Master of Confusion, which I usually find boring, fits in very well among Blood Religion and Lust for Life, and the ever-present Send Me a Sign right after the epic Insurrection makes for a great send-off. If you like Gamma Ray, you will love this album. It really is a Best Of. Definitely worth the money, and a great addition to any collection no matter how small or big.
