Description
Original Swedish pressing with printed innersleeve and catalouge number: 570.430 This is the debut album from Swedens biggest Christian rock band throughout the history. The early years were full of troubles. Playing hard rock and being a Christian was very controversial at the time. Hard rock was connected to drugs, aggression and Satanism. Furthermore the music was ear-splitting. Being the first Christian hard rock band in Europe, Jerusalem had to endure a lot of criticism. They weren’t welcome at all to some churches. Smoke-bombs, long hair and luxury equipment was more than some people could accept, even if Jerusalem radically proclaimed Jesus. Hard rock was considered devilish. But that didn’t keep the enthusiasm away. Every second weekend they took all the equipment and went on tour. The mission was to tell young people about God. In clubs, discos, schools. After three years of touring the band signed to the Christian record company Prim. The band suited their rooster but they didnt believe in too much success. Well they were soon proved wrong, big time. The debut album simply called Jerusalem” became an instant hit among the audience. Within the first six months the record sold 20,000 copies, unheard of within the genre of Christian rock in Europe. Buoyed by the response, Jerusalem toured both in Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia. An English version of the album, called Volym 1, was released in 1980. Track listing: 1. Tank Om Jesus Har Ratt 2.
