Sodom’s cult classic EP In The Sign Of Evil offers old school Black/Thrash as killer as Bathory, as sloppy as Venom and as primitively vulgar as Sarcofago, with Angelripper’s sodomizing vocals as gruff as a Wagner Antichrist toad. All works fucking well, and this release is a sign of more evil things to come in the career of the mighty Sodom, one of the Black/Thrash pioneers, and one of the most notable German bands of old-fashioned Heavy Metal. So, you take a glance at the artwork and see that masked figure just wishing to shred you and everything in its way to dusty little pieces — quite obviously that’s what the record’s all about, and is indeed worthy of its title. It may not be as evolved as Persecution Mania or M-16, but it is definitely worth having for any die-hard Teutonic/Brazilian Thrash Metal fan and anyone who’s into Sodom. It’s primitive and ain’t no Mr. Niceguy pretty-faced to everyone. It’s sodomizing as it is.
