Wallsend, Tyne & Wear’s Neat records label was the Motown of NWOBHM and from their tiny Impulse studio in Wallsend high street, magic flooded into the market place! Alongside the EMI ‘Metal For Muthas’ release, this and the accompanying ’60 Minutes Plus Metal’ release are the finest possible snap shots of a time and place at the birth of a movement that gave the world some of today’s biggest rock bands. All of the label’s big hitters are represented Raven, Venom, Blitzkrieg, White Spirit featuring future Iron Maiden guitarist Janik Gers as well as a smattering of youthful hopefuls, such as Axis and the intriguingly named Satan’s Empire.
