Description

Eldiarn from Moscow, Russia is a folk metal act formed back in 2011. They debuted with a demo in 2013, which was followed by an EP in 2014. Their debut album, Uncontrollable Blessedness, was released in October of 2016. The album was recorded at the KIV Records studio in the spring of 2016. Igor Korolev, well-known in wide circles, was engaged in recording, mixing and mastering. The band also had three guest vocalists, female voice on track 5 and 8 were done by Evgenia Rodnikova from Emerald Night and Stepan Grachev and Lyuba Lagutova both from Anarchist are doing some backing male and female vocals on track 9. Eldiarn play straightforward folk metal with a definite background in thrash based on what I hear in their tracks, double bass and blast beat drums, crunchy guitar riffs, twin guitar playing and tempo changes and harsh vocals (with some tenor style) provided by guitarist/vocalist Evgeniy. Pavel and Vasily (bass and drums) lay down the pounding, sometimes semi-frantic pace to now add Alexandra’s violin playing on top and you have the Eldiarn sound in a nutshell. Eldiarn have created some catchy songs. The tracks are decidedly up-tempo in most cases with some mid-paced parts as well but not wild or out of control, as there is melody here especially because of the violin. This is definitely a debut album that Eldiarn can be proud of and something that you can put on the next time you want to rock out, work out or just folk out. Great release.
