Engel is a Swedish supergroup, consisting of the so called riff-lord Niclas Engelin (hence the bandname, meaning Angel), formerly of Gardenian, In Flames and Passenger. His bandmates have pasts from The Crown, Lord Belial, Runemagick and Evergrey, and the album is produced by In Flames-vocalist Anders Friden. They were touted as one of the ‘Best Unsigned Bands 2006’ by the readers of Metal Hammer UK and crowned winners of Rock Hard Germany’s ‘Demo Contest’ 2006. With their debut album ‘Absolute Design’ the band are set to take the metal world by storm. Hailing from Sweden’s famous breeding ground for riffs and groundbreaking bands – Gothenburg – the members of Engel might be starting as a newcomer, but have years of combined experience and a uniquely mesmerizing heavy-as-hell melodic sound to take over the world’s metallic hearts and minds.
