Description
Worcestershire based Medusa founded in 1978 was a Nwobhm band that would provide the roots for a clutch of later high profile figures. Singer Steve Grimmett made his name with a session on the Chateaux 'Chained And Desperate' album, most significantly scoring US success with three albums for Grim Reaper, a diversion to front Bristol Thrashers Onslaught then his own Lionsheart. Medusa only released two demos in the beginning of the 80s. ‘Clash Of The Titans’ is a compilation album of those two demos and a rehearsal recordings. You can definitely hear the Black Sabbath and Deep Purple influences in Medusa's sound, but when combined with Grimmett's high-pitched vocals the overall style is very similar to what you'd find on the first few Judas Priest albums. For you who owns the Majestic remastered Quartz, Chariot etc albums don’t expect the same good sound on this material. The sound quality is very raw and blurry and would have been a great bootleg instead of an official cd release without any technology clean ups. The music on the other hand is top quality metal with Grimmetts excellent vocals Track listing: 1. Too Far Too Soon 2. Conquest Of The Skies 3. Turn To Stone 4. Getting Faster 5. Buried Alive 6. Lady Killer 7. Rippers Delight 8. Can't Get Away 9. Lady Killer-live rehearsal 10. Rippers Delight-live rehearsal 11. Too Far Too Soon-live rehearsal 12. Can't Get Away-live rehearsal
