Description
The album shows the wrong date on the back cover as iti says Live in Albuquerque, New Mexico 16.9.1984. The fact is that it was recorded at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque on the 2nd May 1984 and it was broadcast by King Biscuit Flower Hour in Usa on the 16th of September 1984 hence the mixing of the dates
Judas Priest’s ninth studio album, Defenders Of The Faith, was released in 1984. Their previous album, Screaming For Vengeance, had taken the band to new heights of popularity and the band had finally breaking the US market so Priest had a tough job following it up. Looking back on the JP history now the album never gets mentioned in the same ways as Painkiller, British Steel or Screaming For Vengeance and thats a shame. Defenders Of The Faith was a brilliant album and tracks such as Freewheel Burning, Jawbreaker, The Sentinel, When The Night Comes Down Some Heads Are Gonna Roll or Love Bites should be performed more regular live then they are. Therefor its great to get a live album like this where we atleast can hear some of the tracks from that album. The album was taped at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque on the 2nd of May 1984 when the band was out on their The Metal Conqueror Tour, a tour that ran from 20 January until 13 September 1984, in support of the album Defenders Of the Faith. This is a perfect album to capture the magic that was Priest in 1984. The fast and furious guitars, an extremely tight rhythm section and perhaps the best voice of British heavy metal.
