The Killer World Tour lasted from February 1981 to December 1981, with a total of 131 concerts. It was Iron Maiden’s first actual world tour. The tour began in the UK and continued into Europe. After that, Iron Maiden played for the first time in Japan and the United States, which connected to Judas Priest. On September 9, 1981, the band played at Göta Lejon in Stockholm and on September 10 at Olympen in Lund. The two Swedish gigs was originally planned to take place in May, but were postponed until the autumn due to problems with Di’Anno. After the two shows in Sweden the band did a show in Denmark on on the 10th of September and that show would be the last with Dianno so Bruce Dickinson sang at the last seven concerts on the Killers tour in October and November. So if you want to hear one of the last shows with Dianno then this is a great album. It opens with the taped The Ides Of March heralding the band’s arrival onstage. The performance commences rather uncharacteristically with Sanctuary, earlier on the tour it had been Prowler or Wrathchild but by the end of the tour it looks like Prowler had been moved to the encores. Wrathchild still comes on very early on the setlist and is an awesome rendition of the enduring Di’Anno era classic. The band plows through more classics with Running Free, Murders In The Rue Morgue, Phantom Of The Opera, Iron Maiden and so on. Knowing that the band had already turned their back on DiAnno it doesnt show on this recording and and Paul Di’Anno and Clive Burr are in fine form.
