Extreme black metal from Wroclaw, Poland by Robert ‘Rob Darken’ Fudali.. They released six demos between January 92 to 94. After the first album the band switched label from Eternal Devils to Austrian imprint Lethal Records. The second cd was released in 1995. ‘Thousand Swords’ was recorded during December 1994 at Tuba Studio in Wroclaw with engineer Grzegorz Czachor. The production on this album has divided the fans. Some say its unlistenable and some say it has a true black metal sound. Anyway it seems that production on albums such as these is done from some sort of inherit intuition; subconscious knowledge of how to capture epic atmospheres and ancient textures. The melodies are epic and ancient in mood, and it is melody that dominates the focus of this release. Whatever you like or dislike the sound on ‘Thousand Swords’ the fact is still there that it has rarely been duplicated, and Graveland should be given credit for contributing this piece of artwork to the world.
