Abhorred was a thrash grinding death machine featuring members from Grief, Noosebomb, Verminizer and Distrupt who came together in Massachusetts back in 2003 to create relentless music that sometimes seems to border to becoming just uncontrolled fury. They recorded the Walloing In Utter Chaos in 2005 and broke up after the online release of their 2007 EP, None Shall Be Spared. This EP have now been released on this tape and it featuers the last material the band ever released as a group. Abhorred took influences from every corner of the underground scene, with notes taken from black, death, thrash, grind, and hardcore. It’s not that there are passages for each, but rather that all those influences have been synthesized into one catchall extreme metal sound. It sometimes sounds really cool while at times it can also be a very uneven listening experience. The riffs have a thrash base with other influences layered on top, occasionally bursting into black metal tremolo or death metal chugging, while the vocals alternate between a throaty shout and piercing screech. You could describe the sound as pretty resolutely oldschool, even though I doubt you could find an oldschool band that sounds even remotely like the stuff that Abhorred recorded. This is the kind of an album that only a few people in the world will find incredibly compelling and will get it. Do you like it weird? Do you like it extreme? Does this sound interesting and does it make you curious? Are you one of the few that will get it? Nah you’re probably not one of those people….
