Japan’s first real exposure to Ac/dc was in 1978 when their Japanese label released the brand new album Powerage. However it would be the bands first album with Brian Johnson, Back In Black, that would lift them up their superstar status. It was then, in 1981, that the band would take their massive tour staff to the land of the rising sun. All the four dates of the Back In Black Japan tour were packed. The tour ended with two shows at Tokyos Seinen Kin Hall (or Koseinen Kin Hall or Budokan Hall as it is called depending on who’s talking) on the 4th and 5th of Feburary. This album was recorded during the second night. The band is in superb shape, they were a touring machine at this point and give the Tokyo audience a high energy performance, Angus Young was totally giving all he got during his striptease. Curiously the material focuses on the Bon Scott era material, Brian has more of a growl during his first couple of years before his voice would transform into more of a sneer and it gives the band a more aggressive sound.
