At first glance, Acheron seemed like your run-of-the-mill, early-90s death/black metal band — no different from hundreds of others ripening like so many oranges under the Florida sunshine. But a closer look quickly revealed the group’s altogether more sinister mission, one that reflected the devil-worshiping ways of leader and guitarist Vincent Crowley, who, in his spare time, helmed a Satanic youth group named The Order Of The Evil Eye, in fact, Crowley’s anti-Christian views would gain him far more notoriety than his music in the coming years. Over the ensuing years, Crowley committed more time to debating local televangelists than writing music. In 1996 the band released their fourth full length album, Anti-god Anti-christ, and it would be an album that showcased what Acheron was all about some midpaced catchy death metal driven by straightforward drums and barking vocals of Vincent Crowley. On this album the band integrated more keyboards into the actual music, rather than relegating them to just the traditional intro tracks between each song. The intros were at this time a big thing for the band and without them the album would be considered an EP. The band also includes a cover version of Non’s Total War.
