Metal bands with a female vocalist were few in the 80s but some of them really kicked some serious ass. Before Dawn of Detente, or Leather of Chastain, we had Kate from one of Belgium’s best and earliest speed/heavy metal bands, Acid. This was an underrated band, they were without doubt one of the true pioneers of fast, dirty , and evil heavy metal. Taking elements of the N.W.O.B.H.M., and smashing it together with the Rock N Roll grit of Motorhead and satanic overtones of Venom, all with Kate’s acidic vocals which could carry a melody despite their vitriol. This album features the bands debut single, material from the Black Car EP, the 1982 demo material and the unreleased track “Rats”. All this accompanied by the sensual yet dominating voice of the metal queen Kate. Even if they weren’t the biggest band ever, their impact on metal music has and will always be felt. Now go on and track down everything this band has ever released.
