Crystal Blue is the debut album from Afterglow. This female fronted AOR group is lead by the mastermind behind the band LastWorld, multi-instrumental musician Jim Shepard. Shepard is a veteran from the genre, with solo albums and guitarist of the band Taxi which became one of Northwest Indiana and Chicago’s most popular bands during the ’90s, releasing two albums. Jim plays most of the instruments on here and utilizes the smooth voice of Celyn Chow, creating a dynamic collection of songs inspired by the Eighties and Nineties, however glued with a modern approach from the production side. Crystal Blue is a fluid, easy listening album, AOR in its core but expanded to melodic rock and rock and pop. At places Shepard infuses a more contemporary feeling, especially in the guitar work. if you enjoyed the LastWorld. Afterglow will please you as well – more lighter material here and with a female voice at front.
