Description
Original Wounded Love release from 1997
The second and final full length album with Algaion showed a change of direction. Gone are the days of the Algaion we once knew, the one that put together high-speed forays into melodic yet still somewhat atypical black metal. Instead, on ‘General Enmity’, the band, led by Marten Bjorkman (Octinomos) and Mathias Kamijo (Hypocrisy/Pain), take a turn towards a more heavy power metal, with a lot of doomy influences, and some plain metal parts. Whatever you do, don’t get ‘General Enmity’ expecting to hear a melodic black metal tour-de-force, as there is little to no black metal to be found on this disc. Still very honorable that Algaion took a leap outside the norm and did their own thing. This album was unlike the first two recordings form Algaion not recorded in the Abyss studio but in a studio run by a TV sound engineer who had never worked with this kind of music before.
