Alice Cooper retired from the music industry after the release of DaDa and remained in seclusion for three years. He starred in Monster Dog, a horror film for which he wrote two songs. He also guest starred on the Twisted Sister track Be Chrool To Your Scuel. And then on the 22nd of September 1986 Mr Cooper arrived with his rebirth album Constrictor. The album featured bass player Kip Winger, who would later gain great fame with his own band, Winger and bodybuilder and guitarist Kane Roberts which resulted in a sound Cooper had never tapped into before. Constrictor exposed a whole new generation of teens to the original shock rocker, returning him to the charts at number 59 after his previous two releases Zipper Catches Skin and DaDa had entirely failed to crack the Top 200. The album also led to one of the most successful tours of the late ’80s, The Nightmare Returns tour. Two songs from this album would do well. The song Hes Back (The Man Behind the Mask) was written for Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. It went on to become a #1 hit in Sweden. The other was Teenage Frankenstein a track that would turn up every now and then in Alice live shows for years to come. The American office of Coopers new record label MCA records however had bigger plans for one other track and that was Give It Up. Promotional copies were pressed and sent out but it didnt gain much radio play and it never got released as a single. This 12 promotional disc features the same track on both sides
