Official Us tape. Clear cassette with grey texture

Consumate melodic rock from this Swedish outfit which really did cause a stir in 1988, as did just about every other notable Swedish outfit from that era. Goodness, Joey Tempest and Europe really do have a lot to answer for don’t they? The line-up on Alien’s debut comprised Jim Jidhed, guitarist Tony Borg, bassist Ken Sandin, keyboard player Jimmy Wandroph and drummer Toby Tarrach. Trademark Scandinavian melodic rock shines through on tracks like ‘Go Easy’ and ‘Jaime Remember’, while the slow to mid paced arrangements of ‘Tears Don’t Put Out The Fire’ and the classy ‘I’ve Been Waiting’ also stand out. Alien’s better remembered moment was the re-work of the The Marbles single ‘Only One Woman’ which did very well for them (it spent six weeks as the Swedish number 1 in 1988). Jidhed departed for a solo career to be replaced by ex-Madison and Von Rosen frontman Peter Sandberg. The new band re-worked their debut album for the US/international market in 1989. The new version, again titled Alien, was released with a new cover artwork in the States in 1989. This Us version included eight out of the twelve tracks released on the 1988 album, 5 of which were remixed. Two new tracks were added, Now Love being one and a cover of The Hollies track The Air That I Breathe the other, both new tracks were sung by new vocalist Peter Sandberg.
