Description

Who do you take me for?
You need to understand
You can’t control me
And I don’t have the strength
To listen to you anymore
I was down on my knees
And you kept on
And now I’m ready

All this time spent for nothing
Wasting life
I hate you for that

All Ends is a female-fronted duet alternative metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. Founded in 2002, it started as a side project of the In Flames guitarists Björn Gelotte and Jesper Strömblad; alongside Tinna Karlsdotter, Joseph Joey Skansås and Björn’s sister, Emma Gelotte. The band recorded a demo but Strömblad and Gelotte’s other commitments forced them to concentrate on other things. However the bands five-track debut EP Wasting Life, released in May 2007, features material written by the In Flames members. You can hear influences from the main band In Flames but as a whole however All Ends takes a distinctly different musical direction with some ultra-catchy choruses. Parallels can best be drawn to Lacuna Coil and Evanescene, whereby the music of All Ends gains a special charm from the interplay of the two vocal artists, who are similar in voice, but still bring their own note to their singing. The five tracks are relatively compact and composed to the point, so that only one of them, the final The Day Has Come, just surpasses the four-minute mark. When you consider that this is the band’s debut EP, the high level at which All Ends are in terms of songwriting and production is surprising. Its an EP that rushes through in an entertaining way and the moody title track is even a little hit.
