One of the best bands to come out of the Nwobhm moment was Angel Witch. Their debut album showed the band in their finest hour. The band was melodic yet forceful and intense and they wrote classics like ‘Sorceress’, ‘White Witch’ and ‘Angel Of Death’ and with an image that showed some interest in the occult they soon had and still has an loyal underground following throughout the whole Europe. The band has split up and reformed many times over the years, with the line-up always revolving around founder and songwriter Kevin Heybourne. Originally split up after the debut album and reformed very briefly in 1982. Started again in 1984. Kevin Heybourne attempted to relocate the band to America in the 90s with a completely new band as none of the existing members would relocate. Passport problems prevented Heybourne from staying in the United States and the band split up again. Reformed again in 2003 but, disbanded again in 2004 or 2005. In 2008 Heybourne re-activated the band again and started to rehearse a set full of 1980 material. The band were set to perform to outdoor gigs in the summer of 2009 but it soon turned out to a whole bunch of gigs during the autumn of 2009. The membership for these gig comprised of Kevin Heybourne, guitarist Chris Fullard, bass player Will Palmer with Andrew Prestidge on drums. A warm up gig for the festival summer was held at the Underworld club in London, England on the 30th of April of 2009. This show was recorded and released on this Japan only live cd.
