2019 re-issue with lyric insert and poster

‘I am the antichrist, it’s what I was meant to be, your god left me behind, and set my soul to be free’. Such are the words of the mighty Slayer on their legendary debut ‘Show no Mercy’. Well, the Antichrist has risen indeed. And he’s coming from Sweden in fact. The band, founded in 2007, consists of Sven Nilsson (drums), Anton Sunesson (vocals), Gabriel Forslund (guitars), Filip Runesson (guitars) and Gobbe Hennigsson (bass). None other than Fenriz of Darkthrone fame named Antichrist ‘Band of the Week’ for his popular internet column. According to widespread rumours a certain Entombed member was seen with an Antichrist shirt at one of their very first gigs. Naturally, although playing Thrash Metal rather than Death Metal Entombed has been a big inspiration for Antichrist. Before Antichrist, the different band members have been active in more or less obscure bands such as Witchgrave, Eviscerated, Disborn, The Rotting and Awaken Horror. After two demo tapes (the ‘Crushing Metal Tape’ in 2008, followed by ‘Put to Death’), ‘Forbidden World’ is Antichrist’s debut album. Judging by the pure class of raw, old-school Thrash anthems such as “Victims of the Blade”, “Militia of Death” or “Terror Dimension” the album will definitely hit the Metal underground like an h-bomb gone wild. Antichrist are one of the bands to watch out for in 2011 and beyond. Leaving behind the retro thrash crowd still aping to death “Pleasure To Kill”, they’d rather follow Deathhammer footsteps by (re)creating their own hell, yet in a mid-80s frame of mind, adding some obscure eastern block influences to the pot for extra craziness which adds an almost psychedelic and mindaltering vibe a la “Seven Churches”.

‘Proof that you can be stuck in a time when you weren’t even born and yet remain idiosyncratic in your own single way’. – Terrorizer Mag
‘This is a monolithic debut release, not by any means original, but by all means effective, raw and certainly one of thrash’s future hopes, especially in the Scandinavian scene’. – Metal Team mag
