Description

The movie The Crow and its soundtrack was released In 1994. It would make Brandon Lee a superstar and both the movie and the soundtrack would become legendary. The comic book creator James O’Barr was hugely inspired and influenced by goth rock music so it was no big surprise that the soundtrack consists of industrial, gothic, and alternative hard rock acts. When The Cure were asked to provide a song for the soundtrack the intention was to use “The Hanging Garden” as James O’Barr, the creator of The Crow, reprinted the lyrics to the song on an entire page. The story goes, that Robert Smith liked the comic so much, he decided to write a new song specifically for the film. The track written for the movie was “Burn” and it would become The Crows main theme. The band however wouldnt perform the track live until they played Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans in 2013. This single features the two electronic art rock acts The Anix (from Los Angeles) and Apoptygma Berzerk (from Norway) revisiting the Crow theme Burn on the A-side while Apoptygma Berzerk makes a cover version of The Cures “A Strange Day” on the B-side

Every night I call your name
Every night I burn

Every night I burn
Scream the animal scream
Every night I burn
Dream the crow black dream
