Azrael from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Usa released their third demo ‘Unto Death’ back in 2001. The band would sign to Moribund records in 2003 and would from their first album ‘Shadows Act 1’ play a mix of droning avant-garde black metal and atmospherics that creates a unique sound thats equal parts Burzum and Agalloch. However back in 2000 the band were still struggling to find their sound. This demo was recorded between August and October 2000. ‘Unto Death’ sounds more like second wave black metal. The sound can be compared to bands such as Burzum and Samael. The production is noisy and isolated and the band should have done some re-takes on some songs because there are some fuck ups that could have been avoided. The band evolved a lot after this demo but if youre into the old way of black metal and accept the fact that it is a demo and doesn’t sound perfect then this could be for you. This demo features 5 untitled tracks but when it was released on cd by Moribund in 2008 then all tracks had been given names so I have written those titles below Track listing: 1.
