Finnish sludge doomers Betelzeus, from Lahti, second album Shedding The Skin wraps the listener in grief and darkness. The bands sound has taken a step towards a more atmospheric and fragile expression. Betelzeus sound has taken a leap in a more sensitive and melancholic direction. The album’s style hovers somewhere between sludge, doom and post-metal, but the band has not lost its recognizable sound. The album sounds like a natural continuation of the debut Congolese Sterilization released in 2019.
