Description

Limited double album with gatefold cover 'Reborn In Defiance' are Biohazards 10th studio effort and their first in six years. While bassist and porn star Evan Seinfeld split with the band earlier this summer, he is featured on the record. The classic line-up – Evan Seinfeld [vocals-bass], Billy Graziadei [guitar-vocals], Danny Schuler [drums] and Bobby Hambel [guitar] – plays on the record for the first time since 1994's major label debut, 'State of the World Address.' Biohazard proves you can go home again. 'Reborn' starts out with a squall of feedback, super fast riffs and Graziadei's higher pitched vocals. It'll transport you to CBGBs circa 1991, that's for sure. There's plenty of groove. "Our new album, 'Reborn In Defiance,' is everything I love about Biohazard, but more….in 2011! 100% ass-kicking in every way" is how Graziadei described the record, and we're not going to argue with him, because it does sound like classic, groove-laced hardcore. It's also a little darker than we expected. Graziadei addressed Seinfeld's hasty exit recently, telling a Swedish website that ‘It dropped like a bombshell. It kind of came up from left field. We finished tracking the record in late February and really didn't have much contact with him that much. Everything was through management and I was working on the mix with [producer] Toby [Wright] and some additional overdubs and different ideas and some piano and keyboard stuff’. Biohazard were blindsided by Seinfeld's decision to split. Graziadei said, ‘Then a couple of weeks ago he calls up and says, 'I can't do it anymore!' He's got a bunch of personal stuff and it's mostly secret. But it's personal between… it's what's going on in his life, but he made a decision and we weren't happy about it, but we made our decision to continue and keep going. It would be great if he was here and I know he's proud of the record and as happy as it came out as we are’. Rather than give up due to Seinfeld's desertion, the remaining members decided to carry on, as they were armed with a record they felt needed to be heard. ‘We were all there and made it together and focused equally on it, but rather to let it die out, we said, 'You know what? F– it! We're all psyched and happy and even though things are different it doesn't mean much has changed!’, Graziadei declared. "The heart and soul of the band is still intact and we're gonna continue’. There's no bad blood between Seinfeld and his former band brothers. He's on top of the world, with his super hot girlfriend Little Lupe Fuentes, the porn star. We don't fault him for bowing out of Biohazard in order to address the other things happening in his life. We're proud of Graziadei and the rest of the band for holding it together.
