Gling-Glo is the only studio album by Björk Gudmundsdottir And Trio Gudmundar Ingolfssonar, consisting of Björk on vocals, Gudmundur Ingolfsson on piano, Gudmundur Steingrímsson on drums, and Thordur Högnason on bass. The album’s title Gling-glo is the Icelandic equivalent of the English onomatopoeia “ding dong”, referring to the sound that a bell makes. The tracks were recorded during August and September of 1990 and released a month later to mixed reviews. Most of the songs are sung in Icelandic and several of these songs are covers of jazz standards translated and sung in Icelandic. A few years later Björk released here first solo album and her career would skyrocket and she would win awards and end up on Rolling Stones list of the 100 Greatest Vocalsits Of All Time.
