Bjorn Stigsson is a Swedish guitarist, songwriter and producer who in the 80s worked with the hard rock group Leviticus. In the USA, he worked for a short time with Dino and John Elefante. His first solo album was released in 1987 and it was called Together With Friends. One of the singers that lent his voice to this recording was Motherlode vocalist Sonny Larsson. This was a lasting friendship and in 1991 the duo temaed up again to create the band XT. XT released three albums in the first half of the 90s before calling it a day. Then Stigsson took some time off and worked with producing instead. He released his second solo album, A New Beginning, in 2016. The joy of playing and recording again also saw a reunion of XT who released their album, Saved By The Blood, in 2017. When recording A New Beginning Björn felt a greater freedom to write and record whatever music he like. He simply makes the music he has inside him regardless of trends or expectations from others. Björn is responsible for all music and all lyrics on A New Beginning. There are references to bands that shaped Björn’s music over the years. It’s a mix of influences from Pink Floyd, Genesis, Rush and Deep Purple. The guitar is still in focus but he has also added lots keyboards to create an exciting soundscape.
