Black Altar have been releasing music which is nothing less than some unholy piece of blackest art, dark, sinister and unholy as black metal is intended to be, since 1998. The first five hymns on this album were written in devotion to self sacrifice and were intended to be released as a split mini album with the Swedish masters of self punishments, Shining. Black Altars music may be built around their winding guitar riffs and arpeggios and founder and vocalist may spit and shout out his death spells with a lower-pitched variety. But these first five tracks also shows a more complex listening experience than some of their earlier works and they are also amplified by synthesized instruments, somewhat reminiscent to Beherit and Burzum. Its also good to have a crystal clear production which deceases the atmosphere. As a bonus on this release we have the Emissaries Of The Darkened Call material which features 4 tracks that the band recorded back in 2010 and also were released back in 2012 as a split album with Varathron and Thornspawn.
