Description

When you get the mission to put together a compilation album of all material Black Sabbath recorded with Ozzy during the 70s in only 11 tracks then you know you will have to scratch your head more than once. What should be one here and what shouldnt. You know whatever you pick you will have millions of fans disagree with you. Theres 8 studio albums to choose from which means you should stick with one track from each album or ? Start picking the bands biggest hits and you will mention Paranoid, N.I.B., War pigs, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Black Sabbath, Changes, Iron Man, War Pigs, Sweet Leef, The Wizard, Symptom Of The Universe, Laguna Sunrise, After Forever .. wait a minute thats already more than 10 tracks. As you see this is a task youre sure to fail in someway and at the same time you cant fail for whatever tracks you choose from those 8 albums they are almost all winners. They record label guy who got the chance to put this 1985 compilation together however didnt went for the obvious single tracks but took a totally different route. If youre just looking for some sort of greatest htis compilation then you should probably go for We Sold Our Souls For Rock And Roll or Greatest Hits 1970-1978. This however is for those wanting to know more. Many of these tracks are high accessible, but little known songs. Such rocking classics as the lead riff happy and Zepplin-like Sabbra Cadabra and the down tempo doom number Supernaut are highly accessible songs that can easily be enjoyed by fans of Paranoid and Master Of Reality who are not familiar with these songs due to the abridged selection spoon fed to them by rock radio. The same story basically applies, though with a much simpler format, to St. Vitus Dance and After Forever, which are among the happiest and most up beat of Sabbath’s catalogue and would bode well for casual fans of the band who would tend to prefer Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin to them. Then you have tracks like Paranoid and Snowblind that seems to end up on all Black Sabbath compilations.
