Silver vinyl release with lyric sheet. Limited 200 copies

In times like these I’m glad Blitzkrieg still exist. Much like Saxon’s ‘Lionheart’, ‘Sins And Greed’ is a healthy sign that good and refreshing traditional metal is still being made. If you’ve ever listened to Blitzkrieg before you’ll know them for their unique style of NWOBHM. True to that style, ‘Sins And Greed’ is updated with a modern sound. The band manages to stay true to its roots while at the same time making something that sounds new and refreshing. Musically, it’s melodic and rocking. The guitar-work is excellent – not overly technical, but there’s not a dull or poorly thought-out riff to be found. Leads are sparse but meaningful and good. Everything just fits in and serves the songs very well. Same can be said about vocalist Brian Ross, a criminally underrated vocalist who seems to get better with age. The best part about the album is the variety in the songwriting. No song is same-sounding. You can instantly tell which song is playing and you get that sense of anticipation for what is to come which is a sign of some good songwriting. It’ll be a while before you get bored, for sure. Just about all tracks are good (and straightforward). ‘Hell Express’ with its non-stop attitude is a good opener. Melodic and flowing ‘Standing Still’ is great. ‘Escape from the Village’ is in the same vein and sounds like something Iron Maiden could have written. ‘Excessive Force’ has some cool riffing and urgent singing. ‘Jeckyl & Hyde’ – another highlight – is diverse, moving through different emotions like a good story being told. ‘Sins And Greed’ is truly a blast from the past. If you loved those classic albums from Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy, as you’ll find the same inspiration and love for the music that made those albums possible.
