Description

Black vinyl with gatefold cover, printed innersleeve and a poster

Blodulvs third full-length, as indicated by the Roman numeral in the title of the album. It’s the first full-lenght released via Eerie Art Records, their first two (Blodulv and II) was released by Swedish label Total Holocaust Records. This is a part of a trilogy, this is something that has almost become a trend in metal (Deathspell Omega, Corpus Christii to name two) why they chose a trilogy I don’t know, but it does explain the Roman numeral in the title. Now on to the music. If you have heard Blodulv before you will know the music, simple, raw and harsh Black Metal inspired by Darkthrone and Gorgoroth with another level of filth. Simple drums by a machine, a pretty non-existent bass and sick, distorted vocals. There are no melodies, there is no catchyness, and there are no compromises. This is almost as primitive Black Metal can be. Yet, the attentive listener will notice some stuff on this album that separates it a bit from the previous releases by Blodulv. First off, there are some riffs that arent that primitive, a bit innovative actually. Also there are far more tempo-changes then before, fast, slow, mid-paced in a chaotic mix. If you like Blodulv this is a great album, if you like your Black Metal primitive and raw this album is for you.
