Description

Here we have the long awaited sixth full length Ima Li Zivota Prije Smrti (meaning is there a life before death) of one of the most revered bands of former Yugoslavian and also the new Serbian scene. Bombarder was formed in during the eighties in Sarajevo, Bosnian republic, and with their first two albums Speed kill and Bez milosti they have garnered huge praise and love from die hard fans all over the world with their primitive fast Thrash / Speed metal. Unfortunately, the civil war tore apart the band and members were scattered all over ex-Yugoslavian republics (Maho Siljdedic, guitar player, and drummer Fahrudin Celik lost their lives in war) but key member, singer Neso formed a new incarnation of band in Belgrade. Crni dani and Ko sam ja, the albums that were done in the second half of the nineties, were really hard to find and below the standards set by first two outings but at the turn of the century Bombarder solidifed their forces, started to play gigs more intensely to rave reactions of both old fans who haven’t forgotten them and the new ones who wanted to witness the legend themselves. Ledena krv from 2003 was their previous one and even though there was a long gap between the two full lengths, the band was active with gigs. Ima Li Zivota Prije Smrti continues down the road paved with Ledena krv, and that is solidifying their music of old. You should know that some people criticized the first two outings due to their sloppy playing and unseriousness of the lyrics but if you would translate the old Sodom lyric in Serbian you should probably get the same result as Bombarder’s lyrics but their two albums are a bit different story. The music itself hasnt changed that much, we are still dealing here with primeval thrash metal with totally simple driving riffs, with bits and pieces of Motorhead-alike rocking added in for a good measure; the arrangements are also up to the point so the whole package is just made for slamming and bashing yourself in sweaty moshpit. Probably the biggest surprise in that department is Ja Hodam U Svakoj Sjeni which is more complicated, slower and with some riffs that even touch Death Metal realms quite a venture for Bombarder. The difference that is made is that Bombarder nowadays sounds much tighter and the actual music is better played and produced, without losing the filthy charm they always had. Even the lyrics are more serious, but not quite (check out Mrznja i patnja to see that Bombarder still has it) so the overall impression is much more serious also which gives the detractors of the band middle finger while still keeping the listeners happy. The albums is closed with Nifelheim’s cover Sodomizer with lyrics translated in Serbian and the song is just great in this setting. It should be said that Nifelheim has also done Bombarder cover for the upcoming tribute to the band, so there you have a proof of my words about the underground credibility of this horde. All in all, the fans will know what to do and if you aren’t aware of this band than buy this one and enter the Thrash cult of Eastern Europe
